The CMG team recently attended the PPAI Expo, North America’s largest international promotional products trade show, and wow! What a fantastic event. With nearly 4,000 suppliers and tens of thousands of products to view over three days, our team returned from the show inspired and eager to implement some of the exciting innovations we experienced for our customers.

Top Five Trends
With smartphone makers like Apple and Motorola doing away with headphone jacks, Bluetooth-enabled products are becoming even more popular, if not essential. Wireless charging options are making a huge splash this year with headphones, charging pads, and speakers.
These items are more than what meets the eye. Water bottles with speakers. Pens with fidget spinners. Keychain charging cables. Unique promo items with multi-use functionality really caught our attention.
Materials, textures, and colors inspired by nature was another common thread we noticed. Wood grain patterns, cork, copper, matte finishes, and glass were very prevalent in many of the lines we saw. We even noticed more of an emphasis on eco-friendly products. Recycled notebooks, bamboo pens, and biodegradable cotton tote bags were our top picks.
The Pantone Color of the Year may be Ultra Violet, but the color palettes shown in Vegas were far from vibrant. This year, our leading apparel partners are getting back to basics with lines that feature a more muted color palette. Black, gray, mauve, olive green , and navy were the top trending color stories this year.
Woosh. Click. Snap. Last summer you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing these noises as the hottest promo trend- fidget spinners- took off. That momentum still continues into 2018 with different variations to the product. Our favorite is the new Spinnit Pen.
